Earlier, I flooded all of my Facebook friends with invites to a new Facebook page dedicated solely to Journeys for Appalachian Youth, Inc. I did this because it is time to give this organization a jumpstart. I have put all the pieces in place and created a nonprofit to help the youth of Appalachia have opportunities to travel and see the world it is now time to move forward.

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday and I see no better time to start than on a day that is designated for giving. I have set up a fundraiser through Facebook which will also be matching gifts all day and waiving fees for all gifts received. You can visit our Facebook page where I will be posting links to the fundraiser throughout tomorrow.  In order to receive the match, the donation must be given through there. If you prefer to donate directly using the donation link at the top of this page that is ok too. There is no donation too big or small, anything you are able to do is appreciated.

I have set a goal to raise $1500 by Dec 11th. These funds will go towards flyers, webpage development, multimedia development and promotional items to be used while presenting and sharing our mission in the community.

Something else to think about, it is the time of year that we are all busy shopping and buying gifts for others. Consider helping while you shop. You can help without making a donation simply by designating a charity when you shop at Amazon. At the top of this page click on the option “Other Ways to Help” and you can learn how simply by shopping at Amazon you can make a difference.

Finally, as we are approaching Christmas and this season of giving. I hope you will all consider giving to something that helps others. There is no better feeling than helping someone that is in need. If you have any questions regarding this organization please feel free to reach out to me at dan@journeysforappalachianyouth.org. I would be glad to answer any questions or provide more insight to what I am doing.
